Welcome!
The Institute for Academic Challenge (IAC) is a nonprofit educational organization in the state of Maryland. Our goal is to improve the educational opportunities available to talented and motivated students. We want to allow these students to move beyond the standard high school curriculum by offering engaging, advanced classes in a variety of subjects so they can delve more deeply into the topics that most interest them.
Our Spring 2012 classes will begin on February 19 and will run through May 20. The deadline for registration is February 10, 2012. If you'd like to receive emails notifying you of updates like these, subscribe to our mailing list in the box below.

There are lots of benefits to taking IAC classes, but above all our goal is to provide you, the student, with the opportunity to do two things that aren't always easy to achieve in high school:
Challenge yourself
We firmly believe that a lot of students are capable of much more academically than is asked of them on a daily basis.
IAC classes will give you a chance to push yourself and see what you can do. There are no grades in IAC classes, and we
work hard to keep things as low-stress as possible. We want students to feel free to test their limits and realize
their potential!
Explore advanced subjects
High school focuses on the basics, the things that everyone should know, and that makes sense. However, there are a lot
of advantages to seeing more advanced material before college. It allows you to explore and figure out what subjects
you find really interesting. Studying a subject at an advanced level often feels very different from high school
classes in the same subject! More importantly, it's interesting. Without the constraints of the standard curriculum,
we are free to pick topics that we believe are the most fun to study. We think you'll agree.
