Our Vision
The goal of IAC is to give students the valuable opportunity to study advanced topics that are outside the scope of a typical high school curriculum. We hope students who are often bored in school and ready to move beyond their classes will benefit from IAC's fast-paced and challenging course material. We also offer students the chance to explore their favorite subjects in greater depth, which will help them better understand what a college major or a career in that subject would be like.
Most of all, we want IAC classes to be fun and interesting for the students. We think it is important that our classes not end with a grade or a standardized test; we want to encourage learning for learning's sake. We also want to allow students to push themselves to explore more challenging and advanced material without the high-pressure environment that such evaluations create.
Who We Are
IAC, like all nonprofits, is overseen by a board of directors. The members of our board all have experience with nonprofits and/or education. More information about the board of directors is available here.
Studying any given subject at an advanced level has a very different feel from high school classes in the same subject. Because we want to help students experience this difference, we make sure that our teachers are experts in their field, passionate about the material they are teaching, and excited about the opportunity to share their knowledge with IAC students.
Finally, we are grateful to the many other people who have contributed to IAC. In particular, we'd like to thank Emily Kesselman of Feathered Hat Studios for designing the IAC logo.
